In the apartment

  • Use the gas BBQ as much as you like. Just give it a clean afterwards.

  • There is a Dolce Gusto coffee machine with a few capsules to get you started.

Practical tips

Late arrival, hungry?

Bora Bora restaurant right opposite is open 9:00 to 2:00. Supermercado Carvajal by the promenade (350 m, 9:00 to 22:00) has groceries and beach basics, the Galp petrol station shop is open 6:00 to 22:00, and Uber Eats and Glovo deliver.

Groceries

We do our shopping at Mercadona. There are several around, 3 to 5 km away, so go by car or Bolt. Like most big supermarkets it is closed on Sundays. If you park there, tell the cashier so they stamp your receipt for the car park exit. Coviran on the promenade towards Fuengirola (about 1.5 km) opens on Sundays too. Carrefour and SuperCor are also nearby.

Water

Tap water is safe to drink, but it is very hard and doesn't taste great. We filter ours or buy bottled water.

Money

Cards are accepted everywhere. Most cash machines charge a fee; the one at the Galp station takes about €3. With a Revolut card, the Kutxabank machine on the promenade is free for us.

Emergencies and health

112 In any emergency, call 112 for police, ambulance or fire brigade. English is spoken.

Hospital de Benalmádena (CHARE)

Public hospital with 24/7 emergencies. Accepts the European Health Insurance Card. Av. de Cibeles 6, 29639 Benalmádena. No children's emergencies: children go to Hospital Materno-Infantil in Málaga.

XANIT Hospital Internacional Benalmádena (Vithas)

Private hospital with 24/7 emergencies, children's emergencies included. Usually quicker if you have good travel insurance.
